A tale of woe, though not very woeful, but I believe in straining for an effect: After decades of inciting insurrection, sedition, and the corruption of youth, thus maintaining journalistic tradition, I went into retirement, at least until as such measures as might improve my vision had worked any magic they might. In these years I regarded my readers as coconspiritors and possible codefendant.
Recently I received a communication from Shotwell Publications (.com) saying that it wanted to make a series of volumes of my collected ravings on various matters, to begin with the South and the military, such as it is. I welcomed their interest while questioning their judgement, though very quietly.
Well, they did, and both are now up on Amazon. In the established manner of all authors, I am peddling them with the calm dispassion of a starving Amway salesman and Itrust that readers will buy them in quantity, or just send me the college funds of their children.
However, in honesty I remind possible readers that the books are collections of things written over many years and thus readers may have encountered some of them before. Anyway

Fred, to me and many observing from far flung places around the planet POTUS has rapidly evolved “Make America Great Again” into “Make Arrogance Great Again.” Perhaps a suggestion for your next Title.
Bruce, maybe you’d like to raise your hand and be the first to be at Ground Zero when Iran would have launched their first nuke our way? And in case you haven’t noticed, which you obviously haven’t, many of those ”observing from far flung places around the globe,” are fucking morons who have done little to nothing except take advantage of the USA Protection Plan.
Andy, Bruce makes a good point. I want to be there at Ground Zero with my arms spread wide, facing the cleansing fire of a 500kt air burst. I would embrace it fully in the sure knowledge that mutually assured destruction would settle the hash of all I loathe in this world …fluoridation, AM radio, telemarketers, gay pride parades, rush hour traffic and cable TV news charlatans. But bluster, ballyhoo and bloviating beats bland Biden bleating. If I am to serve the lizard overlords I want them to have a pair. And don’t be so hard on those who have served and gutter-crawled in far-flung places. The Agent Orange, burn pits and alcohol all took its toll…we are not morons. We are brain-damaged with VA certified disabilities.
Should be required reading at old Hampden Sydney College like we used to get a summer reading list prior to matriculation.

I look forward to reading your explication of the mysterious southern society. I am one who grew up in Jackson county, western Missouri and am very much indoctrinated as a midwestern farm boy. Living in Delaware for more than 50 years and now with extended family in the Virginia beach area, I am still baffled some times by culture shock.
Perhaps you could give us sometime an update on your vision, both physical and psychic.
May I add, It’s about time! I have years of your work saved on my computer hoping my heirs would read many of your essays. I will proudly buy both volumes.

I must confee to buying these invidious tomes. I did not want to do it, but I was forced into it by powers beyond me.
Perhaps I can avoid opening them and polluting my mind even further, but if that proves impossible then farewell, cruel world.
